Working for the CIA has led Connor into a dark world and he now sees himself separate from those he cares about because of his secrets. When he first approaches Lara, Connor knows that he will find a spoiled girl who is playing at revealing secrets or a woman who is trying to harm his friends. What he discovers instead is a woman who believes in the good in people and who wants to help others.It is was easy for me to fall a little in love with Connor. I love heroes who are wounded and have a darkness at their core. Connor is a good man who has had to do bad things for good reasons. The love of a good woman brings him into the light.Lara is not a character that I normally would like. She is fussy with her Vegan diet, her obsession with environmental and social issues. She did eventually win me over because her genuine concern and caring for others, her ultimate recognition of the complexity of the world and her ultimate complete acceptance of Connor showed her to be someone that I could like and see as a match for Connor.In less talented hands, these characters could have been caricatures. Instead, the story goes deep into these two people giving them depth and complexity and life.This series scares me a bit because I feel that it is one that I will want to re-read again and again, but so much depends upon the remainder of the series because these books are so intertwined.WORTH MENTIONING: I’m not a big fan of pets in books because they often are a distraction, but I loved Lara’s struggling Vegan dog Lincoln.CONNECTED BOOKS: SEDUCTION IN SESSION is the second book in The Perfect Gentlemen series. I cannot recommend a reader skip the first book, the stories build upon one another in the overarching story so just start at the beginning with this series. I love anything Lexi and Shayla write,their stories are always full of love and passion along with suspense and action. You will find yourself fully immersed in this phenomenal stories.Connor and Lara are different people but boy do they set off the sparks! I love where this series is taking you,the mystery and suspense plus the absolutely passion and protectiveness that comes with each Perfection Gentlemen.

Book 2 of the Perfect Gentlemen series is as hot as the first.Conner was the scholarship member of the group. He never quite felt like he belonged, but he would gladly give his life for any of his brothers.Lara wants to save the world, but can she forgive and save a man who betrayed her.Incredible series!!

I'm so invested in the espionage/ conspiracy portion of this series.... I'm constantly guessing the who, what, where, how, why of it all & each book has an ending that makes it hard to wait for the next in the series!As with each of the authors, I've come to love the characters, main & supporting, the storyline, romance & increasing tension leading to hot sex is always fun, LOL. Always love the witty lines & humor. Don't want to give anything away but have to quote just one:"Intimidation flowed from him like charisma off a really good politician."

Shayla Black and Lexi Blake are masters at writing sexy, sassy, and twisted stories. I love it. This series is turning out to be my favorite by them, and I simply can't wait for more. It's exciting, passionate, and draws you in. Love Lara and Connor, these two are combustible together, and I don't know which of the Perfect Gentlemen I prefer yet. I have a feeling they are all going down in history for me. Trust me, you don't want to miss this electrifying series!

Once again, Shayla Black and Lexi Blake deliver suspense, laughter, tears and hope....Looking forward to the 3rd installment of the series. I first met and fell in love with the Perfect Gentlemen in Scandal Never Sleeps. The mix of quirky and sensual characters is well developed. Dare I hope that Zack and Liz will get their own story? I'd love to see the series continue to include the story of each of the 5 remaining gentlemen.

This is the second book in The Perfect Gentlemen series. I would suggest you read Book 1 first. However, this book is fast paced and exciting with unexpected twists. This is Connor's story, and of the six Perfect Gentlemen, Connor is the most secretive and damaged. It is a great story, and it is well worth the read.

In book 1, Mad dies in a plane crash, Gabe falls for Everly; in book 2 the group is still mourning Mad and Conner falls for Lara; so how in the world does Mad come back alive in book 3 with no explanation? It’s like the order of the books is mixed up.

This text offers a detailed description in each of 10 case studies about how to build a machine learning solution to the particular problem mentioned. The authors do this in R, and are extensively descriptive about the mechanics of writing R code. If you've never written a computer program, but want to understand how to implement a prewritten machine learning tool in R, this book could be of assistance. However, I'm not sure the authors actually understand the mathematical theory of machine learning; in this book they constantly substitute descriptions of how to select appropriate algorithm parameters with a trial-and-error approach, they do not explain how the algorithms work, and I'm not sure they ever mention the mechanics of "learning" with respect to mathematics. The book has brief passages about machine learning hidden amongst vast chapters about how to read computer directories and load data, etc. Again this book could be useful to the reader who understands ML, but not computer programming.

This book is just ok and barely touches the surface of the topics it discusses. If you're looking for an introduction to machine learning and the R language, I think you're better off with "Data Mining with R" by Torgo. It's a bit more expensive, but not without good reason.

I'm very disappointed that O'Reilly put there name on this book, it's boring doesn't really explain anything except how to use R to query data. But we all know machine learning is the process used to build that data. So the choice of ar arbitrary data sets to to explain what data is, its simply philosophical bull crap. It feels like this book is writen from the point of view of an idiot a proper title would be R query hack for databas tables. I really want a refund because I feel like I was duped ... and then Once you read the authors intro and that the book was written by someone who obviously has nothing to do with hacking or programming. Then it make sense, I don't see any actual maching learning period or detailed and correct explanation machine learning algorithms. O'R

This book is more of an introduction to R then anything to do with Machine Learning.. as a R introduction it's not bad minus the horibad sample code ... which won't even work if you copy and paste it,my advice find a different book there any many, many more accurate and detailed books on R and machine learning

This book may be good for those with little mathematical or statistical background, but its background information sections are too long and its treatment of ML topics too superficial for the book to be very useful for someone with the requisite background to actually implement the methods described in the book.

By page count, this is primarily a book on R, with some additional time spent on machine learning.There is way too much time spent on R, dedicated to such things as parsing email messages, and spidering webpages, etc. These are things that no-one with other tools available would do in R. And it's not that it's easier to do it in R, it's actually harder than using an appropriate library, like JavaMail. And yet, while much time is spent in details, like regexes to extract dates (ick!), more interesting R functions are given short shrift.There's some good material in here, but it's buried under the weight of doing everything in R. If you are a non-programmer, and want to use only one hammer for everything, then R is not a bad choice. But it's not a good choice for developers that are already comfortable with a wider variety of tools.I'd recommend Programming Collective Intelligence by Segaran, if you would describe yourself as a "Hacker".

I enjoyed reading this book.Pro's:The text is parsimonious.The examples are interesting.The coding is clever.The book is less expensive and easier to understand than most Springer texts.Con's:A substantial part of the code is peripheral tasks; this can be skipped.Some of the code is out of date.These Con's are trivial. The book is great. I would buy any other books written by these authors.

I learned a little about the R language and how a lot of scientist of physicist use it the write functions to dynamically create graphs to analyze the data they compiled. It also encompasses a lot of the same math you learn in statistics classes which makes sense. I even ended up downloading an R language reference app from the Apple app store to have an object reference of the language.

Worst reference book ever! It is organized by name, and not even last name, it's first name! There is no table of contents, index or cross-referencing of any kind ... NOT EVEN PAGE NUMBERS! Really? If all you want to do is read through it in idle interest, or if you are looking for quotes for a specific person then maybe it would have some use. But if you want to be able to efficiently find a specific person, or a quote on a particular subject, you are out of luck. I'm sending this back for a refund.

I am such an addict for books of this kind. I must have fifty or more. This one is a doozy. (Is that a word which shows old age?) By that I mean that it is a delight and a pleasure and a treasure and a keeper. I sat down for hours with it when I received it and had great fun circling the quotes which really resonated with me. Oh, one must circle the quotes -- otherwise how will you go back to find the ones you already bonded with, to make sure that you're quoting correctly at brunch with your new in-laws? (Here I suggest Mortimer Adler's classic HOW TO READ A BOOK, where he grants us permission to write all over the books we're reading, circling, underlining, starring, agreeing, disagreeing, posting our own ideas in response.) Generally, I do appreciate depth in most of what I read, but here brevity rules and carries wit along with it. Highly recommended for a good time.

I was a little disappointed when I received this book in the mail. It's a thin book containing various quotes of famous people with LOTS of empty white space between quotes. Not only that, but there are dozens of duplicate quotes throughout the book, some on the very same page. (Page 31 contains "I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship" twice).This is a very poorly edited book (not really even a book, but a print off of a bunch of quotes with a cover slapped on it: no index, no introductory, nothing). All of these quotes can be found online in various quote websites.I still give this 3 stars because I like having all the quotes printed off in front of me to quickly look through, but I'm sure there are much better quote books out there to get instead. I recommend spending your money on a better quote book that was actually edited, or just making your own collection of quotes from the Internet and printing them off to make your own book.

Worst book ive ever bought. 3000 quotes? I guess if you include the repeats....sometimes entire pages are just duplicated. I would return it if there were not a few I hadnt read. The worst. Very frustrating. Also the type set is horrible. Very small and spaced far apart. The book looks big. If you were to condense it to its actual content size with out repeat pages...it would be half the size.

Amazon, are you serious? How can you allow an e-book like this be offered for sale? There is no formatting which makes it impossible to read. This makes me wonder what kind of process Amazon has in place to ensure quality of items offered for sale in their Kindle Store. HELLO AMAZON...... REMOVE THIS ITEM..... ITS TOTAL GARBAGE!!!!

I was looking for more serious and important quotes from more intellectual originators. This does not come close, however it may please the casual reader.

This book is overpriced and not what I expected. There are MANY duplicate quotes.. too many to count. It's extremely annoying to read the same quote on multiple pages. Many quotes are political and of little interest to me. Honestly, I could have done a better job of selecting quotes from famous people and publishing a book. I'm not impressed with the Hagopian Institute and would never buy another one of their books. I'm just trying to warn consumers as I read only positive reviews and that's why I purchased this book. I feel like I was misled and misguided so I hope this review can help others avoid making the same mistake I did.

This book has changed how I look at the mental health industry forever. It is well written, well researched and compelling. Everyone should read this. The pharmaceutical industry are doing so much damage that is being ignored by so many of us.

Well researched and written by someone who has had the opportunity to see the disaster unfolding from the inside. The information regarding the FDA approval process for new depression medications is worth the price of the book. One could be led to believe the intended goal in all this is to produce a population of dumbed down automatons who are afraid to face life as it is. This volume should be read by anyone who's been "diagnosed" with depression and prescribed medication for it. No wonder the psychiatric profession didn't like Albert Ellis!

This book should be read by everyone thinking about receiving therapy or training as a therapist. Finding out that the DSM sysytem (the UNinspired "bible" of psychiatry) is NOT research-based but voted on by a small committee made me think of the struggles in learning this stuff for Abnormal Psychology class! Then the "name becomes the thing". Over-diagnosis. Often including psychotropic drugs which frequently increase the problem or add an additional problem. While I knew some of this was happening, it was surprising to read the results of many of the interviews the author conducted. Goes much deeper and broader than I would have liked to think...

Good read. If you're relatively new to emotional disorders, psychology/psychiatry, and the medications available to help with mental illness (Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, Bi Polar, and other all too pervasive disorders), this book might help you get a game plan together more effectively than w/o knowing this down-side perspective.You need an outstanding psychiatrist to work with. This means you need to "shop" one, meeting with a variety, asking questions, so you can make a best choice. First, male or female clinician isn't as important as the personality. 1. are they immediately empathic, intuitive, and listen well, right off the bat? 2. Ask about contact. i.e.: should you be (hopefully infrequently, but it could happen) up-against-the-wall emotionally, something difficult happens, can you make contact with your shrink directly? In my opinion, the best agree with the caveat it has to be bad. 3. If an appointment is needed, how far ahead does scheduling work? Will you need to wait two weeks to get an appointment? In my opinion, a good shrink will work you in NEXT DAY...if you're seriously in trouble.Medications are unfortunately stunningly tricky. Often prescribed are an SSRI (Prozav, Celexa, Effexor XR, etc.). These drugs assist the brain's ability to pick-up Serotonin being missed to improve mood. They typically can take 2.5 to 4 weeks to get into the bloodstream, and begin to work. If one isn't working, switching to another requires another 3-4 week chunk of time to wait fior signs of efficacy. Added, might be an anti-anxiety (anxiolytic) drug, typically a benzodiazepine (Xanax, Klonopin, even Valium (still), and many others, to provide immediate relied from feeling anxious. Studies have shown...that the understandings, re-evaluations, stunning insights, perspective-changing dialogues...in a weekly therapeutic alliance, can make changes in brain chemistry, the same as medications can. It simply takes a lot longer via talk therapy. The difference being that understanding what ails you emotionally/psychologically, through talk therapy...yields changes that last a lifetime, as opposed to meds as long as you take them. A good therapist, you see weekly to spill your guts with, talk about the unthinkable in a safe, empathic environment, and the new understandings which come ftrom a long time association like this...can change your world the longer and harder you work. Therapy is not for sissies, or those who hold back. You have to open completely.This book will help dispel the idea that you see a psychiatrist, get a "cocktail" of medications, feel better and you're done thinking.Hope this offers some insight.Ron

The book is broken into chapters focused on specific techniques and each chapter has several drills to improve that technique.I’ve been working the drills for the last couple of weeks and can already see the benefits. The footwork chapter quickly made me aware that I’m over-flagging. I used what I learned to adjust my beta on a challenging overhung route and was surprised by the dramatic improvement.The book is well written; the sketches make the techniques easier to visualize and the videos really drive them home. Looking forward to continuing to apply the techniques and drills.

Excellent training in basic rock climbing movement. So, so, very much superior to the useless “Advanced Climbing” taught at our local rock climbing center.

I stumbled upon this book looking for a way to improve my climbing. I have been climbing for four years and have lately hit a plateau/injury circle. This book wastes no space but informs you with simple but often overlooked drills that will definitely improve your climbing. In addition comes the excellently demonstrative and short youtube videos to illustrate the exercises. I really feel these will improve my climbing skills (and to view it as such; a skill rather than strength-based activity) and I will break this spiral I've been dwelling. Definitely recommended!
