A great book, which likely is more appreciated by antitrust lawyers, which I am. Banner shows the essential irrationality of baseball's antitrust exemption and how its continuance is more a matter of politics than law. At the same time, he makes good points about how applying antitrust to baseball could lead in some circumstances to undesirable consequence. Well worth reading for those who wonder how baseball, alone among American sports, is exempt from antitrust laws. The author does a good job of making it readable for no -lawyers.

This was a really a well researched book that solved a longtime mystery for me: I knew baseball had an antitrust exemption, but never knew what it did in practice or where it came from. And I think I learned as much or more about the Supreme Court and the legal system as I did about baseball.

This book made a terrific gift for a baseball-lover. It's a topic well worth researching. This book did the job!

This an absolutely terrific book filled with interesting stories and written in accessible and articulate prose. It packs an enormous about of baseball, legal, and cultural history into a relatively short book.

Written for the general public rather than anti-trust practitioners, the book provides a lucid and informative history of the application of federal and state anti-trust law to professional sports and describes the diosyncratic basis for the exemption of baseball from the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. In demonstratig the legal history for the anomolous baseball anti-trust exemption, the author exposes the political and judicial forces which prevented a normal reconcilation of anti-trust law with changing notions of federal regulation of interstate commerce. The book also provides insights into the plight of professional atheletes until the development of effective player's unions.

I bought this for my nephew, who is a lawyer, and he loved it. My husband and sons want a copy now. Great for all baseball fans.

Very informative explanation of the history of the anti trust exemption. Clearly this exemption should be dropped, but the chances of that seem remote. This exemption is what the Giants are using to block the move of the A's to San Jose.

This book is essentially a basic toolbox for B2B sales. Easy to read and straightforward. Not very sophisticated, which is both its merit and its limitation. No novelty. No surprises (good or bad). Selling as it has always been. Maybe selling as it used to be. These days, with so much information available in the marketplace and such skilled buyers, in many (most?) situations this prescription to sell will (likely) not work any more.

I've had the pleasure of attending Jack's Sales Manager Summit and this book takes his teachings to the next level. I pre-ordered one copy, devoured it, then ordered two more copies for my colleagues. This is not your typical guide-to-sales book. It includes tools to help you TAKE ACTION quickly. The templates provided for goal achieving plans, best questions guide and how to create a sales process scorecard are just a few of the tools provided that any company/any team would find beneficial. Thank you Jack and Dan!

As a big fan of seeing Jack Daly speak in person, I've been disappointed with the book. The book feels like a copy and paste job from the slides of a presentation. Just watch Jack speak on Youtube rather than getting the book.

Excellent easy read - Definitely a guide book to successful sales

I was able to get my hands on an early copy of this book after our co-founder went to a conference jack spoke at in AZ.This book is absolute gold so far. Speaking from a startup where we are putting these processes in place this has been a huge resource. It covers everything from start to finish of your sales process and how to implement/practice with the team. I am an Account Exec looking to move into a Sales Manager Role and this is a perfect balance between fine tuning your selling skills, defining your sales process, and managing a sales team.Awesome side note - I was reading this book on a Sunday and was having trouble accessing the additional content since I had an early copy. I called the support number and Dan personally answered. He took time to answer some questions specific to my sales process and personally emailed his tech guy to get me what I needed!!!

I choose books by their authors not their titles. I want to know that I'm learning from someone who truly has the wisdom, experience and ability to guide me where I want to go. I chose this book. Jack is my man! I always learn better when he's teaching me.

The didn't think I'd find anything better than Jack in person for getting revved up to do sales... it turns out it is having a constant resource of Jack and a playbook to follow to turn his wisdom into practice. I particularly like how practical this is- and measurable. You either do it or you don't.Sales is an art for sure, yet with this book, Jack helps distill it into steps that anyone can do. Bravo.

The end product was pretty crappie looking. A beginner could do better with little training-complete waste of money. Don't know why this person thought they could instruct.

Love the instructions for enterlac crocheting using Tunisian crochet. Very much enjoyed that writer did the work with a regular hook to!

Then instructions are challenging but clear.

Only one crochet pattern and far too little information for the price.

Directions are explicit. Writing is complete. Needs editing for spelling.Works.

The cover is misleading. The book is very informative for what it is but it will not help you create what is shown on the cover. I do regret the purchase.

Great book on Korea by a friend of mine.

This is a good introductory and concise overview of Korean history from antiquity right up to today. It definitely deserves praise for it being written in a casual and straightforward way. I aslo appreciate the expertise of the author (a scholar of Korean history and culture) and the numberous illustrations, maps, statistics on North and South Korea, a brief chronology and a weighty bibliography for further reading.However, this book feels incomplete and the text is almost too elementary or simplistic. There are many more books now available that are much more detailed than this one. 'A New History of Korea' by Ki-baik Lee or 'A History of Korea' by Jinwung Kim are probably the best books on Korean history and both are much more comprehensive than this book. So what I mean is that this book feels unnecessay and if you have read any of the books mentioned above then you really don't need this one. This was a impulse buy on my part so that's why I possess it, have fully read it and why I'm leaving a review.I would recommend this book more to casual readers or for those who simply want a introductory look into Korean history. It's written in a clear way and has many illustrations that illuminate the text. It's more than enough to satisfy your curiosity but for those who want or need a more in depth account of Korean history, I recommend skipping this as it won't get you very far.

Through this little book, an uninitiated reader can get some insight into the ideas of Deutsch-Jozsa, and the algorithms of Peter Shor and Lov Grover. The author does his job, as well as any, and the book is pleasant reading.

If you are using Lehninger buy this one too. It's not quite as comprehensive but it's actually possible to make sense of the topics with this book. Lehninger is clearly written by talented scientists but they are not so talented in the teaching and writing aspects of their bussiness. This book is solid on the science and very well written.

The book arrived in great condition, however, the class was a nightmare. Two hour long exams, 70 questions at a minimum, made it unbearable. I blame my professors terrible teaching strategies for this. Any who, the book is helpful though. It has a lot of figures and really walks you through a lot of molecular mechanisms and cycles. For example, the book breaks down each reaction of Glycolysis and the Citric Acid Cycle into individual paragraphs.

Pratt and Cornely have done the almost impossible. They have put together an informative biochemistry textbook that is very well designed and will not overwhelm students in a 1 semester course. The boxed Biochemistry Notes, Problems and Answers, and Clinical Connections are definite pluses, as well as the well thought out end-of-chapter question sets.Addendum: I hope the authors will update the section on pentose phosphate pathway with better illustrations in future editions . The Lego-block style figure (Fig. 13-11) is not informative, and does not present the biochemical choreography within the pathway in inter-converting between C3, C4, C5, C6 and C7. I has to substitute figures from Stryer's, for explaining that section to my students.I wish the publisher would make the book-related online material available to all those who have purchased a copy of the book. Content on the WileyPlus site is available only to instructors and students registered for a course. Those who bought the book for self-study are out-of-luck. That is unfortunate, because this is an excellent text for self-study.

The Essential Biochemistry textbook is actually very well put together. The authors did a great job explaining many things, however there are a few areas that were lacking in detail, which is why I gave it four stars. This book is great if you don't need extremely detailed explanations, but for someone like me who can only really understand concepts if they are fully and completely explained then I would supplement this book with another. Right now I'm waiting for the 2004 edition of Lehninger (I chose the older edition because of price). I heard it is much more detailed.Overall the textbook serves its purpose and the writing isn't dry and is actually quite interesting. For someone who was dreading taking biochem this textbook has been great!

Has been very useful for my Chem 448 class at Cal State Long Beach. I'm taking biochemistry and I like having this book as a reference. There are lots of practice problems, a glossary, and pictures.

I really liked this text. It was quite a bit more technical and exact than the class I used it for, but it was nice when I was curious about how something worked or didn't understand it from lecture. Defiantly and intro type of text. For me there was a lot of review from high school in it, but it did go more in depth. This is more of a biological perspective on biochemistry than a chemical perspective.

Brand new and so much cheaper compared to buying from a university bookstore. Great quality product.
