I just love stories that are cute, rhyme well and offer a good message. This one is so perfect for my little boy. (I think I might love it more though!) it is about a blue truck that sees farm animals along the way, then a dump truck comes around and is rude to him, but gets stuck in the mud. So he and the farm animals help him out of the mud and the dump truck apologizes for being rude. It's a fun book and I highly recommend it for all!!!!

This book is one of my son's favorites and one I love to read to him. Here is why:-The pictures are captivating-The story is fun, rhymes and has a lesson on kindness-Helps children to identify animals and their noises-Helps children to count to 3I didn't know any of this going into the story. I just thought it looked cute and heard from friends about how good the book was. My son has learned so much from this book, that I once considered "just a book".

I can not say enough good things about this book and artist. The narrative is told in a rhythm of rhymes bringing the reader through a rural area learning about kindness. The Little Blue Truck teaches children about the importance of being kind and how one act of kindness can cause a rippling effect among those around you. We love to talk about the animals and their sounds as we look at the beautiful illustrations which light up every page of this book. There are pages that I just am amazed by the paintings and how lively they are. My child enjoys hearing me read this story often and I do too. Great message. The book is made with a thick cardboard making it difficult to bend or be ruined by young children learning about books for the first time. It's a great size too. We like to throw it in the back pack or in our over night bag when going out of town.

This book was my son's favorite for his first three years. I read it so much to him that I had it memorized and we had to buy a second book because the first one fell apart. The pictures are great and give a lot of personality to the Little Blue Truck, the animals, and the Dump Truck. The rhyming text is wonderful and I've read that reading stories that rhyme or nursery rhymes to children in their first couple years of life helps increase language comprehension and association more effectively than non-rhyming stories because they are able to respond to rhythm and tone before they understand language. This is a lovely book for that purpose. It not only rhymes but also has animal sounds which my son loved.The premise is that the little blue truck winds his way through the countryside beeping his horn to say hi to all the animals and the animals say hi back with their own sounds (baa, maa, cluck, peep, naaayy, etc.). Then the big Dump Truck comes barreling through in a rush and gets stuck in the mud. The blue truck tries to help but gets stuck too. Then all the animals hear the beep of the Little Blue Truck and come to rescue him and the Dump. The sweet moral of the story is if you help others they will in turn help you when you need it. I think the other underlying moral for adults is to slow down and be aware of your relationships and don't just be so focused on yourself. We are a community and we all need each other. Anyway, that is a very underlying current and is certainly not the intent of the story. Don't hesitate to buy this book for all the babies you know!

This is the best book (and I have a lot of them)! I have purchased this book for my daughter when she was 1.5. Now that she is three it is still a favorite book. It is one of the few books I don't mind reading over and over and over again. It appeals to both girls and boys, has a catchy rhyming words, a great moral about helping others (even when they are not all that pleasant to you), and it is a little silly. It is my go-to book for baby showers and children't birthday parties. Such a wonderful book, I would give it 6 stars if I was able.

If you do a lot of reading to your kids, you'll quickly learn that there are a lot of "poem" books, and they can be nice since they're more fun to read out loud than prose, but plenty are atrocious because the authors somehow didn't know that poetry requires meter to work as well as rhyme (to say nothing about the tons of poem books out there with horrible approximate rhymes).That in mind, "Little Blue Truck" is an absolute pleasure to read because its rhymes work and most of all because its meter is flawless; it almost begs to be sung it flows so well.The content is simple and uncontroversial, though I would mildly object to the implication that someone with "big important things to do" is wrong for not taking the time to chit-chat with everyone.

I can't even explain how awesome this book is. Not only does it teach a good lesson to your child, it is tremendously fun to read. The challenge is to read it without singing it. With no music (obviously) and no song to model after, I can guarantee that you will be singing to the exact rhythm that is supposed to be used!In not the only one in love with this book though. My 14 month old son is a huge fan! I have been reading this book to him regularly since he was about 4 or 5 months old. I expect to continue reading it for at least another 2-3 years! The only things that might get in the way of that are the many sequels for this book.This is am absolute must have for a child's book collection! You will get at least 4 or 5 years out of this one book!

Our entire family absolutely LOVES this book! In fact, this purchase was buying a second copy to have on hand just in case something happens to ours because it is so beloved! We were given this book for my son's 1st Christmas, and he's now 3.5. He loved listening to the story as a newborn and still asks us to read this almost daily. We now also have a 1.5 year old girl, and she enjoys Little Blue Truck just as much as big brother. I highly recommend the accompanying books as well, Little Blue Truck Leads the Way and Little Blue Truck Christmas. Grab 2 to have a backup or give the second one as a gift!

My 1st thoughts on receipt of this book was, "is that all?" Yes, volume wise, it's that small. In fact, it's the smallest "How-to" book on novel writing I have (& I have 22+ of them); and probably the smallest out there (102 pages) in print. The authors wordsmithing is straight and simple. No dithering. No fluff. From the intro passages onward, you can't shake the feeling of an unseen finger, pointing a "It's you I'm speaking to" air coming out of the book. It's a fast read, yet, there's no sense of hurry about it; taking its time to hit all the basic high notes: from an admonition + encouragement, to needed tools (both physical and mental), to the elements of fiction, to the how-to opening of the very 1st sentence. Not to forget that he gives easy to follow examples as you read along. All packed in just 102 pages.I wrap this one up by quipping that you'll end this book not wanting it to end. And after you've put it down, its words will linger, hanging over your heart, making you NOT to think that your going to write your novel this year, but KNOW that you are.

I ordered this on amazon then later had the opportunity to get it signed at a Walter Mosley reading. After re-reading and committing to the 'get to work and get to work everyday' plan, I was so excited when close to a year later my writing project was finished. I love his practical advice and guidance on technique, character development, and style. If you're looking for some magical formula then this isn't the book. This author, Walter Mosley, is my favorite writer. His easy style and precise use of phrasing continues in his instructional book. It abounds with practical manageable suggestions for disciplining one to schedule writing time and follows through all the way to rewrite after editing.

I purchased "This Year You Write Your Novel" by Walter Mosley and like the title the book is easy to understand and very informative. As talented and successful a writer Mr. Mosley is he doesn't weigh down the book with heavy instruction, difficult to understand vocabulary and iron clad rules. He gives the writer freedom to do it their way but with tips on how to make the writing process run smoother. It's a thin book but has what you need to get going on your novel, in fact the first few chapters will be the only ones you need until your first draft is done. I like Walter Mosley's teaching style, he gives great examples for what he is writing about and you don't feel like you're being talked down to. This is a nice little book. & it IS little! But there are nice stories & receipies to go along with the stories. I haven't tried them yet, but they don't appear to be too difficult.

I love my Casablanca Cuisine book .The recipes are so easy & clear to understand & delicious.I will definitely buy few for my friends.Every time I need ideas to make something to impress I take my Casablanca book & it works.Thank you Aline Benayoun.

And perhaps his most important.Yes, it's about how to end your books so readers are satisfied. That's important, if they're going to read your next one. And maybe tell their friends about it. And leave glowing reviews.Bell delivers what he promises, and delves into several kinds of story endings, not just "happily ever afters," but twist endings and tragic endings, and more.And, in my opinion, there's a major bonus in "The Last Fifty Pages...." It's the OTHER bits Bell includes - overviews of some of his other books (like "Super Structure" and "Write Your Novel from the Middle"). Those tips can radically improve your current book, too.I've been writing fiction for more years than I'd like to admit. And, I have far too many unfinished books on my hard drive, because they lost their spark, even with the best, most meticulous plotting I could muster. I kept thinking, "I guess I'm not a very good writer."I'm glad I didn't quit."The Last Fifty Pages..." was exactly what I've needed. It's (finally) clued me into what was missing. This is my first JSB book and it likely won't be my lasts. I've been hung up on my memoir's ending for months now, scribbling and erasing and retyping only to never be fully satisfied with where and how things end. I love that this kindle book focuses on this exact subject. I appreciate that the author didn't fatten his page count with page after page of other author's examples (as I so often see in the kindle bookstore). JSB offered down to earth and easy to follow content on what to do and not do when ending your book. It is more suited toward fiction writers, but even non-fiction/memoir folks like myself can find use in it.Two thumbs up. Now, someone stop me before I wipe the dust off my Amazon credit card and buy the rest of Bell's ebooks on writing tips.

The author has a very engaging teaching style and a wicked sense of humor. I loved how he used examples of novel endings to support his advice. It really made this book a joy to read. Whether you're writing your first book or your fiftieth, The Last Fifty Pages will change how you look at endings, setting ablaze a fire that propels your writing to the next level (and there's always a next level), forcing you to push harder to create the most memorable ending you've ever written. Don't miss this one, writers. It's pure gold!

I've read a lot of books by James Scott Bell, I believe he is the best at sharing information to make writers the best authors possible. There were two places in the book that made it well worth the minor cost of the book and allowed me to gleam insights to make my current work in progress better.I think the book started slow and un-focused, but if you get past chapter three you will find nuggets of gold. He does use a lot of the same stories and insights from previous books he's written, but did a good job taking the same stories and digging deeper into the ending. What makes an ending stronger, when to show a protagonist's victory or defeat.I've had a couple of readers of my first book tell me it had a weak ending, so I'm looking forward to utilizing the concepts James included in his book to make my next novel even better than the first.

I always learn so much with each James Scott Bell book I read. There are so many writing instructors out there, but Bell seems to speak the language that makes sense to me and I always walk away from his books with practical and applicable techniques for my next project to make my writing better and more sellable. I highly recommend this book, as well as Super Structure and Writing Your Novel From the Middle. All fantastic books.

His teaching style is straightforward, and his advice practical and easy to implement.In this book, JSB suggests knowing the shape of the ending and working toward it, while writing the other scenes. He identifies five ending shapes: lead wins, lead loses, lead sacrifices, lead “wins” but really loses, and open-ended. He addresses common ending problems, brainstorming endings, and making endings meaningful and resonant.While JSB covers some of the same ground from his other books (e.g. his LOCK system and plotting from the middle), there’s plenty of good advice for creating robust endings.

This book really helped me think through some possibilities for writing a dynamic ending to my next novel. I especially like the idea of aiming for a target ending but also having the freedom to change that ending when I get there. I enjoy reading JSB’s craft books. I learn a lot from them, and they don’t put me to sleep.

This book has useful tips on how to end a book with a bang, but it is also very, very funny. Funny and useful. What more could you want?

Once again Thomas Pavitte, the artist, has created a masterpiece work of art. I enjoy completing the art but there is frustration because of the light color of some of the dots making them difficult to see without significant magnification. I would strongly suggest darker hues for the dot colors. It would be a real shame if a purchaser were not able to see the dots clearly, and fail to complete a real masterpiece. Mr. Pavitte has mastered a technique of over printing that give a three dimensional effect to his work which I applaud. I am anxious to see what his next book will contain but I hope that darker colors will be used by his printer for the dots. I have shown some of the completed designs to friends who cannot believe the pictures are dot to dot designs. Please keep up this wonderful series but darken the dots.

Love this book! Very engrossing (to the point of having a backache from working on it.) Initially I didn't think I would like doing a project that I felt was more child oriented, but just like adult coloring books, this changed my mind, so much so that I'm looking at other dot-to-dot books by the same author. Granted, yes, the numbers are small and one must pay attention to which number is next -- I'm guilty of connecting the wrong numbers more than once -- but the pictures are amazing and they're just fun to do.

I love Thomas Pavitte's work. His attention to detail and imagination are incredible. I am doing one of his Querkles right now, which are just as much fun as his dot-to-dots. His Wonders of the World show so much labor intensiveness, it boggles the mind. His drawings seem to bring out more drama than the actual article. This man is magic.

Pavitte is the master at dot to dot for adults. His designs are one continous work. He makes the numbers change color every 100 dots if you need to break. You don't have to stop and look for the next number like most of the other books out there. I am totally addicted to his and can't wait for more to come out. Challenging and so therapeutic for relaxation in my opinion. Love these!!

I have excellent eye sight however, I would recommend having a magnifying glass along with a good light source to complete each page in a timely fashion. What was received upon the first completed page was a beautiful piece. Extremely relaxing & therapeutic in stress reduction. Unsure if they had to actually construct the book at the time of the order; it was slow to be delivered. Five weeks was a bit long to receive for that which was said to be in stock.

I bought one of these books last year and hadn’t taken the time to do even one but I had all my children visit in July and the dot-to-dots were the biggest hit. I ended up buying 4 books!

too lazy to return this but now i remember getting it before and returning it. The print is SO SMALL and I mean TINY, even with my most powerful lamp I cannot do these puzzles without magnifying glass and getting a headache.

I was looking forward to this book until I got it and realized the numbers are way smaller than I thought they would be. The only one I will actually finish is the bonus poster included in the book that covers two pages and in which the numbers are much clearer, the rest of the book should have been done like the poster spread across two pages.
