This e-book about Angkor Wat: The History and Legacy of the World’s Largest Hindu Temple was interesting. I had heard about Angkor Wat the ancient ruins in Cambodia, but I knew little about them before reading this e-book. I did not realize that the Angkor Wat Temple complex was Hindu. I found it interesting to note that Angkor Wat is on the Cambodian flag. The e-book indicated that the pre-Khmer culture was heavily influenced by the Hindu and Buddhist religions. The Khmer Empire began in the early eighth century. The first Khmer ruler was Jayavarman II; he developed the cult of the God who is also King. The book describes some Khmer rulers and others rulers, but the main focus was on the architecture of the various capitals of the Khmer rulers. I found some of the descriptions of the building and the architecture to be a little hard to follow. At the end of the book, there are about a dozen pictures of the various temples. The pictures alone make this book very worthwhile to me.
