A total intro course for those interested in beginning Fingerstyle Guitar. Good self paced series. Straight forward and easy to use. Not sure I'd recommend this to a beginning guitarist but for those who have a good grasp on the rudimentary skills and basic chord shapes this is a great start to learning fingerstyle guitar.

If you've ever bought a book thinking you would pick up a few tips and play a little better, but was disappointed I strongly suggest you buy this book. The complete Finger Style is for beginners, intermediate players and even advanced players. I have the whole set of complete guitar styles including, Blues, Rock, and a masterpiece on Jazz. I've learned more from these books than all the other guitar books I've read put together.

This collection has everything for fingerstyle students, from the real beginning until it gets quite advanced. If you are serious check this out. It is a good companion to the great Mark Hanson's classic books.

Good used book with good music material. CD was new and intact. Shipping package bag in poor condition from apparent rough handling.

I bought the first book in this series about 2 years ago and have worked through about 95% of it so I decided to get the complete addition to further my fingerstyle skills. Great book!

This book merely outlined what he thought best places for bouldering are. The classic problems described were described well but some areas were included and described similar to " This Place exists but is not worth a description or a map of it or to it". I was disappointed as I do not climb V4 and above often and I find joy in problems that are not "classic". Buy a few individual area guides instead and save time and money on this "comprehensive state guide".

I personally cannot attest to its accuracy or flavor because I'm not homicidal. While my brother-in-law Ben may have been designed by the Gods for doing stupid dangerous things; my design feature primarily include staying at the bottom of mountains on the ground turning beer into piss. My brother-in-law will be the recipient of this book tomorrow for Christmas and I will update if he finds it to be anything less than extremely useful...which is how he described the copy of this book he borrowed from a friend last year; hence the gift this year.

Whoever have this book 5 stars must not know the areas well. This is riddled with misinformation and wrong directions/names/grades of problems. Rocky Mountain National park info is especially ludicrous. Save your $. I don't know how this book is still on the shelves. If Falcon wants to continue to be seen as a serious guide book company, they should yank this ASAP.

I bought this book and I haven't been that impressed. On the up side it is one single book that gets you to a lot of places (thats all) but as a route guide it is pretty messy. As always Horan's route description were confusing and far to concise, luckily I knew this before buying the book. To use this book you will need a lot of supplementation from other sources to really have a full day at a new place. It seems that if a route wasn't around in Horan's heyday then it is simply ignored, there are many new school classics in popular areas that mysteriously don't make the cut. Lastly when I am lost while using this book to navigate I curse FALCON GUIDES for publishing a book with many maps nearly all without scale bars, this is a basic map making technique.

This book is everything you don't want in a guidebook, especially at 50 dollars retail! Directions are often vague or wrong, and many boulders and problems are misnamed and misgraded. I would guess the number of problems and areas with incorrect descriptions is in the hundreds. Don't waste your money.

If you enjoy getting lost looking for boulders, or think that making up names and grades is acceptable, then this is the book for you.if you want accurate info then I suggest you avoid this "guide" at all costs.

The fact that somebody can just make up so much information and get it put into a book that is distributed across the country reflects as poorly on the publisher as it does on the author.Do not buy if you want correct info. A color photo of the wrong boulder with the wrong name isn't going to help you at all.Any info you need is already on mountain project for free any way.

After using this book for several years now, I must say that it has acted as an accurate guide both historically and geographically. I have had few if any problems finding and bouldering on the amazing boulders documented in this volume of incredible work. I is an amazing documentation both literally and photographically of the bouldering in Colorado. I find some of the negative reviews both inaccurate and bullified. This author has been at the fore front of both bouldering and climbing at a world class level for over 30 plus years. Cheers to this incredible piece of work. Boulder On!

At the beginning of the book, you are given a choice: to be a British soldier in North Africa, an American soldier fighting in the D-Day invasion, or an American infantryman in the Philippines. You turn to the appropriate page depending on your choice. From then on, you are given a choice almost every step of the way; your decisions affect how the story ends, whether you live or die. Along the way, you learn about different historical events, as well as techniques and weapons used, in a very absorbing and informative book.The trouble is this: the author seems to have his own opinion about what's right and what's wrong - often he seems to think a bad decision is a good one, and a good decision is bad. The reason I say that is because multiple times after you make a good decision, he kills you for it. And what's even worse is his method of killing you. Since it's such a good decision, you don't easily die; so to kill you, he makes you do something really stupid (without giving you an option), and THEN he kills you. Of course, he includes a graphical description about your bones crushing, or whatever.Here's a word-for-word example from the book, after you make the choice to throw a grenade at the enemy:"You pick up the grenade and pull the pin. But you wait a moment too long to hurl it at the Germans. It explodes in your hand."The explosion blows away your hand and part of your arm. You lie bleeding on the ground. The Germans in the gun nest hear the explosion. They aim their machine guns at you and quickly put you out of your misery."Here's another one; this takes place after you decide not to take the risk and disarm an unfamiliar type of land mine:"When the supply truck comes by, you can load [the mine] inside and have it brought back to the base. There an expert can look at it."As the supply truck comes rumbling toward you, a German shell whizzes down from the sky. It hits the mine, and the mine explodes. It kills you, Jim, and the driver of the truck. You never knew what hit you."See? It just doesn't make sense. When you try to hitch a ride on a tank, it hits you, "crushing every bone in your body"; another time you get put in jail after the author forces you to strike an officer. It's very frustrating.The idea is a really good one, though; it's like an adventure video game, except it's on paper and the events described really happened. I just wouldn't suggest getting this particular book in the series; rather, try World War II Spies or World War II Pilots.

This time around, he published with Andrews McMeel Publishing, making the book a little smaller and easier to hold while still maintaining his signature interior and exterior design. As for content, the blurb across media states the collection "meditates on the subtle beauty of brokenness." I would say it does much more than that.My impression upon reading the first twenty or so pieces of his modern poems and prose was that the collection would feature outpourings of all the bits of wisdom Mr. Drake has learned throughout the years sans the lens of Tumblresque romanticism that abounds in social media's poets. I was pleasantly satisfied that, for the most part, that was indeed the case because the pretty sound of short verses never seemed to fit his voice quite right.Throughout this collection, Mr. Drake does not focus on longing and loving, nor happiness and beauty as much as he has done in the collections published prior to this. Rather, he focuses on friendship, memories, honesty, family, art, and surviving with simply written verses. He goes so far as to state what it is he craves now that the years have passed him by and the pull towards romanticism has lessened ("Manufacturing Love"). That is not to say there are no love poems here and there, but they are more of the type that you have seen him write before – more or less. The poems that are about what is listed above were the ones that truly felt alive. When reading them, it seemed he was just across the table imparting all his musings, unedited, unfiltered, and all through deliberate patience.Out of the 400+ pages of poems featured in this collection, a solid twenty poems moved me to tab them, to want to remember them. It has been about a week since I read the book yet these twenty are ones that I have gone back to reread. In this era, politics have to be dramatic to rake in viewers, therefore profit. Artists like actors and musicians have to be open to all options of advertising their brand to make it to a big screen or a platinum record whether they are comfortable with what that entails or not. The dangers for everyday people like you and I is that we too can feel the need to create a fake personality around coworkers, church folk, or family in order to fit in, to stand out, or to pay off. While that behavior is common in a high school setting where all students are still testing waters, when the pretending spills into adult life, that is crushing. Mr. Drake crafted a massive little verse to be a red flag, to give us all a way of looking at the subject through the eyes of people who love us. What is it like for them to hold close a mere version of you? Might you be missing someone who would love the true you by pretending?The Message I Wrote for MyselfRobert M. DrakeAnd there wasnothing left to hurt...That's how I knewit was over.And in the end,I belonged to myself,and I was finally ableto change—for me.The love I had inside medidn't belong to youor anyone I ever knew...It was all, ultimately,meant for me."The Message I Wrote for Myself" is a page of content that is polar opposite to a substantial portion of the poetry Mr. Drake has written concerning love. Whereas before his work would say something along the lines of "there's so much love in me for someone" or that he felt he had to be the support and anchor to someone else, this new piece poignantly states that it is more important to love yourself, to change yourself into who you want to be before going around to connect with someone else. This is immensely important to the generations that are still in middle school and high school—do not go around looking for a relationship or even best friends to "ground" your soul because only you can ground yourself. "Save Yourself," "Universe," and "The Things I Can't Tell Myself" are other pieces that expound on this subject.This collection further is Mr. Drake sharing his thoughts about many different themes. It cannot be summarized in a few words, and I enjoy that."Dear Mother," "This Is My Space," and "Real Is Real" are three examples of pieces that are commentary about the social media age. "People Killer" and "Violent Power" are two examples of commentary about the violence that has been going on around the world. There are also a few personal pieces to the people in his life.Overall, I recommend R.M. Drake's "Broken Flowers" collection to those that are familiar with his work and to those that are not. His style and content is slowly evolving into his best. If you never have picked up his work, this is the best collection to start with as of this year. It is the great poets of the past that used bitter reality to construct the poems that still fill classrooms and media today. I say Mr. Drake is getting there and that I greatly respect that he is branching his work out; he certainly has the potential. I look forward to the day when we may get a poem that is six or so pages long. That would be quite a wonderful work.As to those who are not keen on this new style, he has a message: "Filled In-Boxes."

If you have read and enjoyed any of his earlier poetry works: Black Butterfly, Beautiful and Damned, etc. you will love this as it is in the same style. If you haven't read any of his earlier works, I think you will enjoy it as well because he writes in such a succinct, human language. The relatability of his work always stands out to me: there is a poem in here that applies to everyone, in some form or fashion. He is, in my opinion, becoming one of the best poets in America today.

this was suppose to be a Christmas gift for me, but I couldn't wait to open it... so I've read it once and I'm packing it back up to read again after the holidays.

I felt the need to purchase Broken Flowers forever and finally did it. Im happy i did. Its impossible to leave any negative feedback for anything done by R.M. Drake. im looking forward to purchasing more of his work.

R.M drake is amazing. I love all his books. It's like he wrote it just for me. I can relate to everything and it just speaks to me. You should def get it!
